Light Sculptures
In a workshop on making Nogouchi-style Akari lanterns some years ago, I learned to make paper lights using basket weaving reed and Japanese and Thai papers. Uninterested in creating the same form repeatedly, my work is always free form. Pods, seeds, shells, stones, etc. found when walking or gardening, inspire much of my work.
The work process is often like a meditation, demanding patience and imagination as well as the use of practical lighting considerations.
